The Health Benefits of Turmeric & a Delicious Golden Latte Recipe

By Mathilda Johnsson

I love turmeric - it's such an amazing root which you can use in so many things. Turmeric has a high amount of health properties which can be used for healing purposes. When I first heard about this golden root I learnt that it can aid in the healing of Alzheimer's, reduce inflammation, boost your metabolism and so much more.

Turmeric contains a high amount of curcumin which has a high level of antioxidants. Antioxidants helps the body in protection against diseases and fight cell damage. This reduces the risk of inflammation in the body - even moreso the risk of inflammation in the brain. Which is why the lower rates of dementia can bee seen in communities that consumes a lot of turmeric.

I started to make my own turmeric latte, also known as "golden milk" to get myself to consume it more often. It's such a treat and I love having it in the evening to calm down after a hectic day.

Here's the recipe for my own sweet golden milk latte. I do hope you enjoy it! Even the little ones will enjoy it, but I'd recommend reducing the ginger to make it more kid-friendly.

Delicious Golden Latte Recipe

  • 200mL plant milk
  • 100mL water
  • 2-3 tsp turmeric
  • 1 inch chopped ginger
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbs sweetener of choice

Method:

  1. Whisk all ingredients in a pan and over medium-heat. Stir every few minutes.
  2. Just before it starts to boil, put it aside.
  3. Pour in a cup and enjoy! Top with Ceylon cinnamon to serve.

I do hope you enjoy it and feel more in love with this golden spice!
